Ogunkeyede Akinyemi holds first degree in Industrial Chemistry, M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry and PhD in Engineering from the Department of Environmental and Chemical Engineering, Nottingham University, UK. Ogunkeyede had 16 years of field and research experience in environmental studies and related discipline. He is a member of the Nigerian Environmental Society and Chemical Society of Nigeria, both chapters in Delta state; and he lectured courses on research methodology, environmental pollutions, waste management, Methods in environmental analysis, environmental monitoring system and techniques, environmental quality management and other environmental-related courses at the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, college of science, Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State, Nigeria.
Ogunkeyede is the head of the Sustainable Development Solution Network (SDSN) of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Nigeria, since 2018. He has been using this office to bridge the gap between academia and communities through numerous events and activities to implement SDGs. Recently, he organised a health walk to sensitise the University about the need to care for the earth on 2021 World earth Day. In addition, he organised quiz and innovation challenges among students to promote love for nature and pollution control.
Ogunkeyede is a regular discussant on television and Radio on Environmental matters. He was the keynote speaker at a biodiversity conservation workshop organised by the ACCARD initiative and National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) at the Ministry of Environment, Yenagoa, Bayelsa. Ogunkeyede has taken part in local and international conferences and seminars. He had served as a member of many committees within and outside the University, such as a university innovation and research development committee member. He was the FUPRE local organising chairman of the 7th Nigerian Young Academy (NYA) conference and General assembly in 2017. He has been consulting for the Coastal and Marine Areas Development Initiative (CMADI) for the past few years on projects and activities on mangrove. His partnership with the PIND foundation successfully trained 200 unemployable youth in Edo state on Solar PV. He heads the committee that wrote a report on the contribution of the Oil producing companies in the Niger Delta region to greenhouse gas emissions. He serves as the head of the multidisciplinary consultant team for an NGO called Initiative for Community Development (ICD) in Delta State on the restoration project of agricultural soil polluted with the crude oil spill. He has filed a patent for plastic composite brick to reduce GHG from the solid waste stream in Nigeria. He has developed processes to purify wastewater with the use of agricultural waste products.
