BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Ozak Esu is an award-winning Chartered Electronic and Electrical Engineer, and the Video Host (Technologies Series) at ClimateNow, a global multimedia platform, explaining the key scientific ideas, technologies, and policies relevant to the global climate crisis.
Born and raised in Nigeria, shortages in electricity inspired Dr. Esu into engineering, with ambitions to contribute to delivering long-term sustainable solutions. Dr. Esu began her academic and professional career in the UK, where she spent 12 years. She moved to the UK from Nigeria in 2008 at 17, to pursue her bachelor’s degree at Loughborough University, graduating with a first-class in 2011 and was awarded a scholarship to advance straight to her Ph.D. at 20, in renewable energy and embedded technology. After her Ph.D., in 2014, Dr. Esu joined the Construction and Built Environment Industry, initially leading electrical building services engineering design and installation on site, for award-winning national and international construction projects; and subsequently undertaking strategic research in Smart Buildings, for the UK Government. In 2017, Dr Esu was awarded the prestigious Institution of Engineering and Technology’s Young Woman Engineer of the Year Award and she is the recipient of numerous other engineering awards and prizes. Now based in Switzerland, Dr. Esu is a Technical Project Manager, R&D at Hilti Group, leading innovation at the company’s Corporate Research and Technology Centre in Schaan, Principality of Liechtenstein.
