BIOGRAPHY
Luiz Felipe Guanaes Rego, Dr.rer.nat., Albert-Ludwigs University, Freiburg, Germany, is director of the Interdisciplinary Center for the Environment at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (NIMA PUC-RIO). He is a professor in the Department of Geography at PUC-Rio and his interest in research includes models of the geographic space in GIS to support analysis and monitoring activities of the process for the sustainability of land use at the local level. He develops automatic systems for the management of ecological gardens for continuous production in an urban environment. The professor is coordinator of the Environment and Sustainability Network of the Association of Jesuit Universities in Latin America, (Ausjal), Coordinator of the Brazilian Network of Solutions in Sustainable Development an initiative of the United Nations (SDSN Brazil), and member of the executive board of the Strategic Alliance of Catholic Research Universities (SACRU).
