The work programme on long-term climate finance was launched by the Conference of the Parties (COP) at its seventeenth session to progress on long-term finance in the context of scaling-up new and additional, predictable and adequate finance, including the USD 100B joint mobilization goal by developed countries (decision 1/CP.16, paragraphs 97–101). The work programme was extended until COP18 and concluded its work at COP19.

25. Dialogue & Advocacy Fellowship offered with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation
The Nelson Mandela Foundation aims to recruit a Fellow that will be based within the Dialogue and Advocacy unit. We envision this person as being someone who not only contributes towards public discourse but who also sees research as a verb in that they are committed towards actualising their proposals into tangible outcomes. We are looking for someone who can take initiative, network and engage with stakeholders in a meaningful way. Where possible, they must use relevant empirical evidence from both South Africa and elsewhere in the world. Any interventions or initiatives they propose must be possible in our local context.

26. African Development Bank: Funding to support women entrepreneurs
This May, the African Development Bank Group is launching a call for proposals for projects enhancing the viability and sustainability of women entrepreneurship enablers.
Women’s business associations, incubators, accelerators, and cooperatives that advance women’s entrepreneurship, can apply for funding for innovative projects or programs to bolster the skills of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) owned and run by women across Africa, the Bank announced.

The African Climate Change fellowship Program (ACCFP)
The African Climate Change Fellowship Program (ACCFP) promoted skill building on adaptation research in Africa. From 2008 to 2016, more than 300 fellows – PhD and post-docs students, as well as individuals from government and NGOs – participated in the program.
Fellows were matched with universities, research centers, and other host organizations across Africa where they collaborated with mentors to implement individually designed projects that assessed and prioritized climate risks, investigated practices for designing and implementing adaptation actions and considered approaches for integrating adaptation with planning and practice.
