Biography
Walter Spearheart
(full names Walter Kolade Spearheart) is mostly known as a musician, composer and music therapist. He has over 15 years of experience as a performing and recording artist, playing the violin, the guitar as a singer/songwriter, and the folk harp. His deep interest in playing music for therapy has taken him through several hospices in Cape Town South Africa, where he lived for about a year. He was interviewed for his work as a music therapist on Cape Town TV in 2017 and was invited to speak on music for healing and restoration at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. In March 2017, when the recurring waves of xenophobia took place in South Africa, he took the initiative to begin a music/culture-oriented movement with the hope of inspiring a more harmonious coexistence and co-thriving amongst African nationals living in South Africa. His endeavour which he called “ e HOLDON Initiative” – consisting primarily of musicians, through live music performances across different venues in Cape Town, brought individuals of various cultures and preferences together to foster a sense of collective responsibility towards the scourge of xenophobia.

Now relocated to his home country, Walter Spearheart is introducing the very rare, enchanting and therapeutic element of harp music into the live music scene in Nigeria. A few of the events and stages he has graced with his music include – Luth Amity Awards 2017, Guinness Flavour Rooms 2018, Olamide Live In Concert 2018, and the Sound City MVP awards 2019. He is also a versatile voice-over artist, a classic poet, a TEDx speaker, and is credited for his post-production work as “foley artist” in a few Nigerian films.
