Prof. Xue Xian

BIOGRAPHY

Prof. Xue's research interests are desertification and restoration, climate and environmental change in the drylands, and sustainable management of watersheds and agriculture. In the past 20 years, her work has focused on the dynamic process and mechanism of desertification and its rehabilitation in Northern China and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Since 2010, Prof. Xue sets up the salinization research station and leads the station members to restore the degraded land in the drylands by integrating water management, sustainable agriculture, and biological techniques. Prof. Xue has published over 150 academic papers and books, obtained four national and provincial level rewards. She is currently the Director of Department of Desert and Desertification, head of Drylands Salinazation Research Station, Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
