1. Action Fund, International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (Denmark, France, Germany, UK)

Aims to support civil society organizations, academic institutions and non-profit research institutes, who are working on, or wish to develop environmental projects which use publicly available data - such as Google’s Environmental Insights Explorer (EIE) - to drive environmental and climate action, increase energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.

2. SMILO launches Call for Proposals: Grants for Small Islands Solutions (GSIS) Program (see eligible countries in link)

SMILO is launching its new call for proposals: Grants for Small Islands Solutions (GSIS) to support representatives and local associations, and more broadly the action of the civil society in Senegal, Cabo Verde, Tunisia, Sao-Tome & Principe, and Madagascar. It will also allow SMILO to discover and support stakeholders from islands that are not already part of its network. They strongly believe that they have the potential to create inspiring initiatives that will contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and which are therefore worth being promoted to other islands, on a larger scale.

Did you study or participate in a U.S. government-sponsored educational or professional exchange program? 4. SoLAR Innovation Fund, International Water Management Institute (Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan)

8. New William T. Grant Scholars Program

Supports career development for promising early-career researchers. The program funds five-year research and mentoring plans that significantly expand researchers’ expertise in new disciplines, methods, and content areas.

Funding information: Each year, four to six Scholars are selected and each receives up to USD 350,000, distributed over five years.

9. U.S. Embassy in Benin announces 2020 Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Fund (SSH)

Aimed at assisting Beninese community groups to develop lasting, self-sustaining projects that significantly impact communities by addressing critical health, social, and development concerns. Each year, Embassy Cotonou supports approximately six to ten projects with small grants, typically under $5,000. These grants have contributed to agricultural modernization, economic development, combatting early marriages and gender-based violence, improving sanitation, women’s empowerment, improving learning conditions, and providing greater access to clean water, health services, and education.

19. Business Partnership Facility announces Call for Projects "Enterprises for SDGs"

The Business Partnership Facility (BPF) provides grants to support and develop private sector involvement in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in developing countries. The Facility aims to simultaneously achieve two types of result: Social impact and economic viability. The projects targeted by this call must contribute to the achievement of at least one clearly identified SDG. The starting point of the project must be an entrepreneurial initiative, carried by one or more companies, pursuing a development objective.

22. Friends of the Environment Foundation Grant, TD Bank (Canada)

46. r4d Program launches Second Call for Transformation Accelerating Grants

Second Call for Transformation accelerating grants (TAGs) that allow teams of r4d researchers and implementing partners (e.g. policy makers, the private sector, development practitioners) to make use of the knowledge, tools and technologies developed within r4d projects through translation and implementation initiatives. 47. CLÁR-Funding for Small-Scale Rural Projects (Ireland)

The CLÁR program (CeantarLagaÁrd-Riachtanais) provides funding for small-scale infrastructural projects in rural areas. CLÁR aims to support sustainable development in identified areas by attracting people to live and work there. The funding works in conjunction with local funding and on the basis of locally identified priorities. The scheme is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development. It is delivered by local authorities in consultation with groups in local communities.

53. Call for Applications, Urgent Action Fund (Africa)

Urgent Action Fund-Africa is expanding its COVID-19 response towards supporting women, transgender and gender non-conforming defenders with disabilities to: develop and widely disseminate messages and information about the disease in disability friendly formats, simplify and/or translate complex COVID 19 information, and provide practical resources.

7. John G. Bene Fellowship 2020, International Development Research Centre (Canada)

Trees and People: Resilience in a Changing Climate. Covers field research expenses for advanced master’s or doctoral students who intend to conduct their field research in one or more developing countries. Funds may be used to collect data and samples in the field, conduct interviews or surveys with local populations, and organize focus groups or workshops. Candidates must use findings from their field research to write their thesis.

8. Mekong Cultural Hub and British Council launch 2021 SEA Program

SEA is a program co-created by Mekong Cultural Hub and British Council which creates space for cultural practitioners to reflect on how their work in arts and culture can contribute to sustainable development within South East Asia through their individual and collective leadership. The program has 4 main gatherings spread over a one-year period where Fellows get together. Each gathering takes place in a different country and has a unique purpose: exchange, create, share then reflect.
