The Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL, or the Department), announces the availability of approximately USD 11,711,500 total costs (subject to the availability of federal funds) to fund one technical assistance project in the Republic of Kenya, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and one other African trade partner country to enhance labor compliance in key export sectors in sub-Saharan Africa.

Call for Proposals: African Cities Lab (this call is open for most African countries)

African Cities Lab (ACL) is a joint initiative led by EPFL, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Ghana), the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (Maroc), Sèmè City campus (Benin), the University of Carthage (Tunisia), the University of Cape Town (South Africa), and the University of Rwanda to contribute to sustainable urban development on the continent. The initiative aims to create a digital education platform and its content on urban planning and urban development in Africa.

New Great Ape Conservation Fund - Africa

In response to the decline of ape populations in Africa and Asia, the U.S. Government enacted the Great Ape Conservation Act of 2000. The Act provides for the conservation and protection of apes by supporting conservation programs in countries within their ranges and the projects of persons and organizations with demonstrated expertise in ape conservation.

Call for proposals in East, West, and Southern Africa: Generating and mobilizing knowledge and innovation for early learning

The IDRC, the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and the LEGO Foundation invite proposals from individual organizations, or consortia of organizations, for projects to generate and mobilize knowledge to enable national education systems in developing countries to address challenges associated with two targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

THE BERTHA CHALLENGE: Fellowships for Activists and Investigative Journalists

At Bertha we know that many activists and investigative journalists are already doing ground breaking work to investigate, amplify their work and connect with each other. The Bertha Challenge aims to support this by providing time to work exclusively on a focused project, the spaces in which to connect with a diverse global cohort of Bertha Fellows and partners, and the resources to develop and deliver tangible products that speak directly to the Bertha Challenge question.

Young African Leaders Initiative

YALI Regional Leadership Centers (RLCs) are located at higher education institutions in sub-Saharan Africa and offer leadership training programs to young leaders between the ages of 18 and 35. By providing in-person and online training, networking, and professional development opportunities, the RLCs serve as a place for regional collaboration driven by young leaders. The RLCs are a project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in close partnership with The MasterCard Foundation and other private sector partners. Each center is managed as a public-private partnership.

2021 CEGA Non-Resident Fellowship Application

The CEGA Non-Resident Fellowship seeks to equip early career African social scientists with the skills needed to carry out rigorous evaluations of economic development programs. Selected researchers will have a chance to remotely audit courses at Berkeley or other universities, develop skills in impact evaluation, and have access to a personalized mentorship program to develop their research ideas. Each fellow will be paired with a faculty mentor affiliated with the Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA), a research center based at UC Berkeley.

Youthful Cities: Digital Storytelling Lab

Through a unique partnership with Coventry City of Culture Trust, British Council, The Space, BBC R&D and with support from Google Arts & Culture, we are launching an Open Call for Artists (18-25yrs) in Coventry (UK) and Nairobi (Kenya) to collaborate with one another and create digital, interactive and immersive storytelling that responds to some of the themes identified in the Youthful Cities Index. The Digital Storytelling Lab programme is part of Youthful Cities, a series of four international cultural and creative exchanges between artists in Coventry and Nairobi (digital storytelling).

As a Black and women-owned business that focuses on African markets, it is in C. Moore Media, International Public Relations DNA to be vocal about our support for diversity, especially as it pertains to Black women and girls. In 2020, right in the middle of the global pandemic, when businesses around the world were reeling from the pandemic, and we too as a company was trying to navigate the new normal, we wanted to reach back and help African female entrepreneurs and founders of startups during the global chaos that was surrounding us all.

2021 GCSP Prize for Innovation in Global Security

In 2015, under the umbrella of its Creativity and Innovation Initiative, the GCSP and its Geopolitics and Global Futures Programme established a prize in order to recognise deserving individuals or organisations that have an innovative approach to addressing international security challenges. The prize is designed to reach across all relevant disciplines and fields. It is intended to encourage and recognise excellence in contributing to new approaches to enhancing sustainable global security.

Rise Up’s Youth Champions Initiative invests in powerful young leaders ages 18-29 who are leading the sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice movement in Ethiopia, India, Pakistan, Rwanda, and the United States. Our externally validated model enables young leaders to create large-scale change through leadership development, technology, innovation, and advocacy.
