#KidneyCleansingWednesday: CABBAGE

It is that time of the week again when we give all our attention to the Kidney. Kidney cleansing Wednesday is about pampering the Kidneys, making them green and full of strength.

The Kidney magician for the day is CABBAGE.

Cabbages are cruciferous vegetables filled with phytochemicals. Phytochemicals work to break apart free radicals from the body. Many phytochemicals are believed to combat cancer and support cardiovascular health.

Cabbages are high in Vitamin K nd C; they are equally high in fibre and a good source of Vitamin B6.

The property of cabbages that makes them Kidney friendly is that they are low in potassium.

Cabbages can be consumed as a vegetable with rice and pasta dishes or raw in salads and coleslaw. It is the green Kidney day, do some honour.

#BodyDetoxFriday: PINEAPPLE

TGIF. I can perceive the excited of not going to work or school tomorrow already, and I also see the excitement of having to wake up to no magician too….. LOL.  It is alright, and totally I am not judging right now. However, just before we go the short break, let’s dust off for the weekend.

The Body Detox Magician of the day is PINEAPPLE.

Fresh pineapple is not only sweet and delicious, but it also aids in detoxing your body, thanks to the presence of bromelain, a powerful digestive enzyme. This enzyme has been proven to help in digesting protein, breaking down fats, and reducing inflammation.

Pineapple is also packed with manganese, which has been recommended by nutritionists as a way to boost your mood. How is that for a bonus?

#SkinnyThursday: PUMPKIN

Its skinny Thursday and the Skinny magician for the day is PUMPKIN.

Pumpkin is one of the top sources of Beta Carotene. The body converts Beta Carotene to Vitamin A. Half cup of cooked pumpkin packs nearly 400% of the body’s daily need for vitamin A. Vitamin A is responsible for the growth of the body skin cells. Increased intake of vitamin A helps to keep the skin soft, smooth and wrinkle free.

Today’s green treat is all in a bowl of pumpkin salad.

#HeartTuesday: BERRY

Our Tuesdays are for pampering the heart to make it feel good and green. Even if not for anything else, let’s keep the heart healthy enough to withstand all these heartbreaks. For this hearty Tuesday, the magician for the day is BERRY.

According to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, eating a cup full of mixed berries for eight weeks can be associated with increased levels of HDL cholesterol and lowered blood pressure.

Berries contain Polyphenols, a broad class of heart promoting plant compound that includes anthocyanin and ellagic acid.

Polyphenols may increase the level of nitric oxide, a molecule that produced some heart-healthy effects. One of these includes helping to relax the blood vessels, which subsequently results in lowered blood pressure.

Berries do not only satisfy the mouth, but they also satisfy the heart.
